Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Claims Connected to Player Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise issued a statement on Wednesday evening stating they are aware of claims of abuse made public in online accounts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in communication with the NFL.

The organization omitted the name of the player by name in their statement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Posted on Instagram

The woman, who likewise did not name the athlete by name, shared a series of photos on social media that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. Jones did say the person involved was the father of her children, and it is known she has two children with the football player, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Currently Not on File

No official complaints were available in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have taken place.

Player's Recent Legal Issues

The receiver was absent for the initial part of this season following an league-mandated ban for his involvement in causing a crash on a Dallas highway that resulted in multiple people injured. He was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

Statistically, he concluded the season with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City finished with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first time in a ten-year span.
