The British boxer Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, officials in Lagos confirmed on Wednesday evening. The 36-year-old was part of a serious road collision outside Lagos on December 29th, a devastating event that claimed the lives of two of his team members.

Under Observation for Minor Injuries

The boxer had been under observation while recovering from minor injuries, his management team confirmed on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post online that Joshua was judged healthy enough to leave and heal privately.

“Joshua and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two departed friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” Omotosho said.

A Tribute to the Fallen

Those who lost their lives were named as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. It was also noted that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and overcome with emotion over the loss of his two trusted companions.”

This update on his health arrives after the global fight fans shared condolences for the champion in the wake of the terrible crash.
